HETAS is the official body and the only Government recognised body to approve solid fuel heating appliances, fuels and services, including the registration of competent installers and servicing businesses.
Registered installers are trained and approved to UKAS standards and can self-certify that their work complies with the relevant building regulations and that installations have been carried out to the required safety standards. HETAS ensure that installers are regularly assessed as competent.
What does a HETAS registered installer do?
When a HETAS registered installer carries out work, he self certifies the work via HETAS who then notify the Local Authority, rather than the customer notifying their Local Authority and undertaking a lengthy and costly process applying for a Building Notice.
Failure to notify the Local Authority can be an offence resulting in enforcement action being taken against the property owner and/or installer.
The HETAS certificate can be used to validate property insurance and will be required in any property selling process.
Most installations of wood-burning stoves and multi-fuel stoves are subject to the requirements of Building Regulations and are notifiable to the Local Authority in your area by law.
Why use a HETAS Registered installer?
Peace of mind: All registered installers are trained and assessed as competent.
It saves you time: HETAS registered installers can self-certificate their work which means that you can avoid the need for time consuming Building Notice applications to the local authority.
It is simpler: A Certificate of Compliance will be issued as a record of the job and that it complies with Building Regulations. A copy of the certificate is forwarded to HETAS who notify the local authority on your behalf.
It is cheaper: We do not charge any additional fees for the issue of the Certificate of Compliance. This saves you costly Building Notice applications to the local authority.
